tibetteacherOn Apr 21, 2013, it was reported that the Tibetan administration in India is to take over Tibetan schools in India. It has been more than 50 years since India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru took the initiative to open schools for Tibetan refugees, and now the Tibetan administration in exile is set to take over the 71 institutions which are functioning across the country. This transfer process began this month and will take at least three years to complete.

First independent cadaver lab in town

Written by Jennifer Mulson on . Posted in Yoga and wellness news

cadaverPeak Research Institute in Colorado Springs received their first body the day after last Christmas, and began holding classes in January.

Bonnie Thompson and Beverly Boyer, both long-time massage therapists, founded the first independently-owned cadaver lab in town. Their mission, Thompson says, is “to create a community kind of a lab, to inspire our community of practitioners and to expand the paradigm of medicine. Right now the paradigm is drugs and surgery, but we feel there’s more to that, we want to change it to the whole body.”

Their students are mostly bodyworkers right now, including massage therapists and yoga and pilates teachers, but the lab is open to anybody who’s interested. Study groups ($40) and workshops (50) are held regularly, and one-on-one classes are also available ($75/hour).
