Anandaful Yoga creates a new community for all yogis
With more than 410,000 residents, Colorado Springs is the second most populous city in Colorado. That’s a lot of potential yogis. In an effort to bring all those yogis together in a blissful community not connected to any particular studio, Misty Fritz, a local yoga teacher, created Anandaful Yoga. The group is designed to bring together like-minded people for a variety of yoga-related events.
“The group is open to anyone. Some of our members are interested in yoga, but don’t know where to start. Some are advanced yogis looking for new challenges,” Fritz said. “We provide a variety of opportunities for yogis of all levels, and awareness of yoga offerings around town.”
She’s right, the group does provide a wide variety of opportunities for people to connect and enjoy yoga in different ways. Recent activities include an evening of yoga in the park led by Lisa Dunfee with donations going to the Pikes Peak Humane Society, a visit to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre to see Michael Franti and Spearhead, a movie night to watch "Titans of Yoga" and visits to several studios to try different teachers and styles of yoga.
“We are fortunate to have so many wonderful yoga studios and teachers in the area. Our group provides an opportunity for our members to try some of those wonderful studios,” she said. “Vice versa, we also provide an opportunity for studios and teachers to reach an audience outside of their regular clients.”
A new event being added to the group’s activities is “Guru Nights.” Local teachers and experts will meet with the group to present on various topics including ayurveda, vegan nutrition and the chakras.
By providing activities that are educational, fun and affordable to anyone interested, Fritz is well on her way to creating the blissful community for the 410,000 potential yogis she hoped for.
