Invent a Way to Illuminate

Written by Austin Richman on . Posted in Yoga and wellness news

This past summer my sister and I ran a lifestyle yoga program at cambio. Yoga called Illuminations.Luminaries1
The main thrust of the program was to experience yoga as a fully integrated practice, including asana, pranayama, meditiation, mantra, yantra and chanting, in your everyday life, without having to go live in the Himalayas or an ashram.
Our aim was to challenge people to gain a heightened awareness of the how and why of their life, constructed within a community of like-minded individuals all working toward change or betterment of self with the aid of the ancient philosophies and practices of yoga. We constructed a definition of yoga, inspired by the late Georg Feuerstein, that yoga is a search for complete inner freedom. Each night we met there was a different focus of how to explore a yoga practice of freedom, beyond just arriving at a class, doing some postures and then going home.

The climax of the program was, without a doubt, the night entitled Kula Seva, which is Sanskrit for community service. The construct for this night came from the centripetal theme in the Bhagavad Gita - to renounce the fruits of one's actions as a means to freedom.

Sky Guides Astrology and Numerology

astrologyJupiter in Gemini went retrograde on Oct. 4, 2012, and Saturn entered Scorpio on Oct. 5. Both of these planets are said to affect finances and business.
In 1929, just days before "Black Thursday," the stock market crash, Jupiter went retrograde in the exact same place. This indicates we are likely to see a significant drop in the value of the stock market in the near future, as well as an economic slow down.
Also, with Saturn transiting Scorpio until September 2015, we will see a significant increase in the cost of goods such as groceries and energy costs during this transit.
